چکیده
The contamination of heavy metals in water is a worldwide issue which increasing day by due to the different types anthropogenic activities. These pose serious health risk on aquatic organisms. One such metal chromium. present study about determine 24h, 48h, 72h and 96 hours LC50 value hexavalent chromium for Nile Tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus. In study, 96h exposure Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) was able measure lethal concentration 50 (LC50) niloticus). A kind computational graphical technique can be applied obtain an (median concentration) from response concentration-mortality data produced acute mortality experiment. No process should that does not evaluate both its 95% confidence limits. were statistically analyzed application SPSS software based Finney's Probit Analysis Method 72h, h values niloticus found 121.06mg/l, 108.30mg/l, 99.31mg/l, 93.49mg/l respectively. With increase metal, fish increased gradually. directly proportional exposed metals. results indicate revealed toxicity when this could release fact may outcome deleterious toxic effects influences environment.

Genotoxicity of sub-lethal di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).
This study aimed to assess genotoxicity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) erythrocytes after exposure to a sub-lethal concentration of 10 mg L(-1) di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) for 24 and 96 h. The results showed that mean MN frequencies in both DBP and ethyl methane-sulfonate (EMS, positive control for MN bioassay) groups were significantly different (p<0.01) with respect to control and sol...
متن کاملVisual communication stimulates reproduction in Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.).
Reproductive fish behavior is affected by male-female interactions that stimulate physiological responses such as hormonal release and gonad development. During male-female interactions, visual and chemical communication can modulate fish reproduction. The aim of the present study was to test the effect of visual and chemical male-female interaction on the gonad development and reproductive beh...
متن کاملBehaviours Associated with Acoustic Communication in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)
BACKGROUND Sound production is widespread among fishes and accompanies many social interactions. The literature reports twenty-nine cichlid species known to produce sounds during aggressive and courtship displays, but the precise range in behavioural contexts is unclear. This study aims to describe the various Oreochromis niloticus behaviours that are associated with sound production in order t...
متن کاملMetacercarial Infection of Wild Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from Brazil
Fingerlings of Oreochromis niloticus collected in an artificial urban lake from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, were evaluated for natural infection with trematodes. Morphological taxonomic identification of four fluke species was performed in O. niloticus examined, and the total prevalence of metacercariae was 60.7% (37/61). Centrocestus formosanus, a heterophyid found in the gills, was ...
متن کاملHuman Streptococcus agalactiae Isolate in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)
Streptococcus agalactiae, the Lancefield group B streptococcus (GBS) long recognized as a mammalian pathogen, is an emerging concern with regard to fish. We show that a GBS serotype Ia multilocus sequence type ST-7 isolate from a clinical case of human neonatal meningitis caused disease and death in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).
